Pressure Relief Compliance Monitor: ME Team Prototype Demo

This video is a quick demonstration of some of the features of the prototype Pressure Relief Compliance Monitor my Mechanical Engineering team at CSUS designed for our senior project. The PRCM is supposed to remind wheelchair users to perform pressure-relief every 20 or so minutes in order to avoid getting pressure ulcers (these are really the same as bedsores). Our prototype system consists of a force platform mounted under the seat cushion, feeding data to a LabVIEW VI. We measure the patient's center of balance (much like the Nintendo Wii Balance Board does) and use that to figure out if the patient is sitting still, moving around, etc.. ME Team members: Oliver De Castro, Ricardo Heredia Jr., Eric Lencioni (in video), Tim Manzyuk, and Gloria Robinson (in video) Mentors: Dr. Timothy Marbach, CSUS Mechanical Engineering Dr. Warren Smith, CSUS Biomedical Engineering Dr. Anita Bagley, Shriners Hospital for Children
